ATS : HIGH TECH BORDER SECURITY

MCLEAN, Va., Feb. 15 (UPI) -- The U.S. Department of Homeland Security tapped ATS Corp. for a system to test the effectiveness of various technologies it uses.
Under the award, ATSC will support Homeland Security initiatives to secure the country's borders against smuggling, illegal trafficking and terrorism by providing the Border Technology Test Bed controlled environment that enables the government to determine the utility and effectiveness of various technologies in detecting, tracking, classifying and responding to threats along land and sea borders.
Specific threats include smuggling, illegal trafficking and terrorism.
ATSC, which has headquarters in Virginia, said cutting-edge technology services such as integration of micro unmanned aerial vehicle data and installation and assessment of automated scene understanding sensor fusion capability are included under the award.
The contract from Homeland Security's Science and Technology Directorate is for five years and is valued at $19.5 million.
Additional details weren't disclosed.
ATSC is a provider of mission-driven software and systems development, systems integration, infrastructure management and consulting services to the U.S. Department of Defense, federal civilian agencies, public safety and national security customers.
